Anna Carolina Valverde, nascida em novembro de 1985, é mais conhecida pelos amigos como Caru. Envolvida nas artes desde pequena - seu pai é artista plástico e sua mãe formada em desenho industrial - diz que nunca imaginou que fosse seguir esse caminho como profissão: "Desde pequena eu queria ser médica, apesar de não sair do estudio do meu pai e não largar meus lápis de cor.” Tudo mudou quando foi fazer suas inscrições para o vestibular e a mãe insistiu para que fosse conhecer uma Universidade de Artes Plásticas. “Na hora em que vi todas aquelas oficinas e ateliês, tão parecidos com aquele no qual eu tinha passado tantos momentos na minha infância não tive mais dúvidas.” Durante o curso ficou claro que seu maior interesse e aptidão envolviam cores. “Meus amigos pediam para que eu misturasse as tintas para eles.” Se formou pela Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado em dezembro de 2008 e então se mudou para Ilhabela, no litoral norte de São Paulo. “É essencial para a minha pesquisa viver em um lugar colorido, São Paulo é cinza de mais.” Desde então, vem produzindo peças em diferentes técnicas – pintura, mosaico, papel marche – todas bem coloridas e alegres. O que importa em seu trabalho não é o suporte ou meio usado e sim o resultado da harmonização das milhares de cores existentes. “Quero colorir a vida das pessoas!”, diz.
Anna Carolina Valverde, born in November of 1985, is known by her friends as Caru. Involved in arts since is a litlle girl - her father is an artist and her mother is graduated in design - she says that never imagined that she was follow this way as profession: " Since small I wanted to be a doctor, although I not to leave my father’s studio and never release my crayons.” Everything changed when she was to make her registrations for the vestibular contest and her mother insisted to she was to know a Art University. “In the hour that I saw all those workshops and ateliers, so similar to that one I had passed as many moments in my infancy I did not have more doubts.” During the course it was clearly that her may interest and aptitude involved colors. “My friends asked for I mixed the inks for they.” She graduated itself in December of 2008 and then she was to live in Ilhabela, a small island in the North Shore of São Paulo. “For my research is essential to live in a colorful place, São Paulo is to gray.” Since then,she producing pieces in different techniques - painting, mosaic, paper march - all well colorful and glad ones. What it matters in her work is not the support or used way and yes the result of the harmonization them thousand of existing colors. “I want to color the people’s life!”, she says.

Apaixonada pelas cores e por suas misturas inusitadas minha maior paixão não poderia deixar de ser a Pop arte. Andy Warhol e suas serigrafias são grande influência para mim, assim como artistas contemporâneos que também tem como referência esse movimento. O fotógrafo David Lachapelle com suas imagens hipersaturadas é incrível. Os impressionistas e pós-impressionistas – como Monet, Van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Toulouse Lautrec – também me fascinam. Gaudi e a sua obra de mosaicos me servem de inspiração constante. A cultura dos países latinos, a forma como o povo usa as cores no vestuário, no artesanato, arquitetura e até mesmo na culinária e na música, me interessam e fazem parte do meu dia-a-dia. Costa Rica, México, Guatemala, Colômbia, Cuba, Panamá, Chile... Se eu pudesse viajaria todo ano para cada um desses países. Felizmente eu sou brasileira e encontro muito de tudo isso no meu próprio país.
Gotten passionate for the colors and its unusual mixtures my bigger passion art it could only be the Pop. Andy Warhol and his screen-prints are great influence for me, as well as contemporaries artists who also have as reference this movement. The photographer David Lachapelle with his hipersaturation images is incredible. The impressionists and post-impressionists - as Monet, Van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Toulouse Lautrec – fascinate me too. Gaudi and his masterpieces of mosaics serves to me as constant inspiration. The culture of the Latin countries, the form as the people uses the colors in clothes, in the arts, architecture and even though in the culinary and music interest me very much and are part of mine day-by-day. Costa Rica, Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, Cuba, Panama, Chile… If I could I would travel all year for each one of these countries. Happily I am Brazilian and meeting very of everything this in my own country.
